Day 1: CUSCO - SORAYPAMPA- INCACHIRIASKA - PAMPA JAPONESA

Kickstart your Salkantay Trek and Short Inca Trail adventure in the vibrant city of Cusco. Begin with a scenic 2-hour drive to Mollepata, where you’ll enjoy a hearty local breakfast. Afterward, trek for 1.5 hours through the stunning Peruvian Andes, reaching Soraypampa at 3,900 meters (12,795 feet). Here, prepare for an unforgettable ascent to Pampa Japonesa, located about 4 hours away at 4,400 meters (14,435 feet).

After lunch, hike 20 minutes to Inkachiriaska Lake, capturing photos of its crystal-clear waters and the Salkantay Glacier. Return to Pampa Japonesa for your first night under the stars.

DAY 2: PAMPA JAPONESA - INKACHIRIASKA - PAUCAR CANCHA

Rise early to the sounds of nature. After a hearty breakfast, depart from Pampa Japonesa for a 12 km (7.5-mile) trek. This portion of the journey takes around 6 hours and ascends through lush valleys and alpine landscapes to the ancient ruins of Incachiriaska (4,300 meters / 14,108 feet).

After exploring, continue toward Paucar Cancha at 3,600 meters (11,811 feet). Set up camp, enjoy a warm meal, and share stories under a starry sky.

DAY 3: PAUCAR CANCHA - LLACTAPATA - WAYNA QUENTE - PISCACUCHO (KM 82)

Today covers about 13 km (8 miles) in 6-7 hours. Begin by ascending to Wayna Qente at 2,700 meters (8,858 feet), offering panoramic views of the Vilcanota Mountain Range. Then, continue to Llaqtapata at 2,740 meters (8,993 feet), rich in historical significance.

Proceed to Piscacucho (KM 82) at 2,680 meters (8,792 feet) where you’ll officially connect with the Inca Trail. Enjoy the evening with a warm meal and campfire camaraderie.

DAY 4: PISCACUCHO (KM82) - OLLANTAYTAMBO - CHACHABAMBA - WIÑAY WAYMA - MACHU PICCHU (SUNSET VIEW)

Start with a 30-minute drive to Ollantaytambo train station. Take the scenic train ride to KM 104, the start of the Short Inca Trail. Trek 12 km (8 miles) to Machu Picchu, taking around 6 hours. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views and explore Inca history.

Arrive at Machu Picchu just in time for a stunning sunset. Afterward, take a 30-minute bus ride to Aguas Calientes, where you can relax for the night.

DAY 5: MACHU PICCHU (SUNRISE VIEW) - OLLANTAYTAMBO - CUSCO
