Our adventure begins early! We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 7:00 AM (or earlier, depending on your preference) in our comfortable, private van. Our first stop is Chinchero, a charming Andean village renowned for its vibrant Sunday market and exquisite textile traditions.
We will explore the local market, witness the artistry of traditional weaving, and immerse ourselves in the local culture. Next, we will continue to the fascinating Maras Salt Mines, an ancient network of terraced salt ponds that have been in use since Incan times. Then, we will marvel at the circular terraces of Moray, an ingenious Incan agricultural experiment.
After a day of exploration, we will enjoy a delicious lunch in the heart of the Sacred Valley, savoring the flavors of traditional Peruvian cuisine. Finally, we will reach Ollantaytambo, an impressive Inca site and town that has been continuously inhabited since the 13th century. From Ollantaytambo train station, we will board the 3:37 PM (15:37) train in the Expedition service (or Vistadome upgrade available!). The train will arrive at Aguas Calientes station at 5:02 PM (17:02). Upon arrival, we’ll walk to your hotel, where you can drop off your luggage and then enjoy some free time, perhaps a relaxing visit to the Aguas Calientes hot springs. We will conclude the day with a delicious dinner at the renowned Indio Feliz restaurant.
Today is the day you’ve been waiting for! We will rise early, enjoy a light breakfast, and take the bus to the main gate of Machu Picchu. The bus ride takes approximately 25 minutes. After passing through the Machu Picchu checkpoint, we will embark on a three-hour exploration of the city with one of our passionate and knowledgeable guides, who will share fascinating insights into its history, cultural significance, and architectural marvels.
After the tour, we will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, giving you time to relax, have lunch, and perhaps enjoy some last-minute souvenir shopping. We recommend a departure time of 2:55 PM (14:55) for your return train in the Vistadome train service. This will allow you to spend more time in Aguas Calientes while still having the opportunity to relax at the Aguas Calientes hot springs or enjoy some beverages after your tour. The 2:55 PM train will arrive at Ollantaytambo station at 4:31 PM (16:31), where your driver will be waiting for you. From Ollantaytambo, it’s a scenic 1-hour van ride back to your hotel in Cusco.
